There ain't nothing better than a little case of bad timing. Maybe the next headline could be: "Hurricane George manages to flatten world peace."
It's academic really. The man has a mandate which is more than any of us has. If we feel strongly enough about it, we should put our views to the test and stand publicly.
Blair's done it three times now and Bush's done it twice.
People are NOT stupid. They vote for candidates for all sorts of reasons including a default "well at least he stands for this or that, or isn't him."
What DOES amaze me about the current Leader of the Free World is the dynastic element to it all. That brother what's-his-name in Dade County can't be far away. Is it Jed?
Such hereditary priciples were anathema to America's Founding Fathers who must be burlin' in their graves every time George Dubya sits down to tea with ER II in Buck House.
Come on Binty Boy! Stand up and be counted! You may even get MY valuable vote. The competition's not that strong.

Doc's right people aren't stuped they're just mean and narrow minded and ugly.
Doc, I'd love it if it really were that simple, but no-one can just stand on their principles alone and expect to win (unless tou're an ex-newsreader in a white suit, apparently). If you are not part of an established party your chances of garnering even a respectable amount of votes are slim, but if you do join one of those parties your principles will undoubtedly be compromised. So the idealist that I am I probably will not stand for election anytime soon... but I thank you for considering voting for me anyway!
I agree that people in general are not stupid, but they are often misled... hence a second term for Bush based on a 'winnable' war.

less than 1% of the worlds population voted for george bush but we are ALL stuck with him. particularly the people in iraq and afghanistn, who certainly didn'tvote for him. he has a mandate of sorts to do things in the USA. he does not have a mandate to do things anywhere else.
